This Week in BAD ASS Baseball

May 21, 2006

Ø      Guess I jinxed us when I brought up the subject of rain. And though I said “it’s not like we can’t play through some rain”, never did I envision rain coming down like that.

Ø      After all these years of BAB, I didn’t think there were any other “firsts” that could happen. Well I was wrong as BAB had its first ever Rain Out this week.

Ø      Along with the Rain Out, comes the longest Rain Delay in the history of baseball. 7 Days as the league will finish the game next Sunday with Team Dexterity coming to the plate in the Bottom of the 8th leading 13-8.

Ø      In the spirit of Abe’s Army, “Captain” Brandon Hamilton was M.I.A. for this week’s game. And with that we have the return of Shit Brandon! Gonna be hard to shake that name now, no matter how mad he gets.

Ø      Also M.I.A. was Javier Gonzalez whose friend was in a car accident. What that has to do with making out on Sunday, I don’t know, but I think it had more to do with him not having the $20.

Ø      Goodson was in GREAT shape this week with the grass cut nicely, and the short porch idea was a hit. It eliminates the poles in left which was the last major concern about using the field. All that is left is to come up with a contingency plan for the one week a month that the Vintage League uses the field.

Ø      Good work by Joel Stauffer on bringing out the video camera and doing 99% of the filming. With the editing equipment he has, I expect to see some great highlight videos in the not too distant future.

Ø      Only one person took advantage of the short porch in left this week, that being Torance Matsui. Despite many people saying that it was going to lead to numerous “cheap” home runs, it turned out to play a lot fairer than was first thought.
