Random thoughts while trying to hurry up and finish this article so I can return to playing God Of War…

3 games into the series let’s take a look at some of the series stats.

                  G        Hits       AB’s      Avg.     1B     2B     3B     RBI’s    Runs     HR

Tito            3          12          22         .545        4        5       1        10          11          2

16th overall pick has 2nd most RBI’s in the series. Trails only teammate Torance.

Alvin          3           7           18         .389        3        1       1          9          6            2

3rd overall pick has improved after a rough start to the series.

Nick           3          11           17        .647        4        2        1         9          10          4

4th Overall pick is putting up huge numbers for his first 3 games of the year.

Cav            3          10           18        .556        4        4         0        7         10            4

#1 Overall pick is showing why he is always picked first.

Torance is 8 Hr’s away from 50 for his career. He is 3rd on the B.A.B HR list behind Cav and the now retired Josh Blackford.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of Mr. Blackford, he is still the all time leader in HR’s per game at 1.38. Cav is close behind with 1.32.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leland took his first ever B.A.B. 0’fer on Sunday. That is nothing to be ashamed of after as many games as he has played. He still has his streak of no K’s going, knock on wood.

Two RDWS players predicted a sweep after their game one win, and it looks like they might be right and my prediction of a RDWS win in 6 is a lot less likely.

“Well in our league we don’t play for money, sponsors, or fame. It is all about pride and bragging rights. So to me it is very important to leave my mark on BAB history by leading my team to a series sweep. I took on the task of being captain very seriously and a lot of thought went into my draft, a sweep with the team I created is a great accomplishment to me. I am very proud of my team because we not only have skills, but we also have a lot of heart. This heart was really shown when we took game 2 of the doubleheader, being that we were out numbered 6 to 9. We played our asses off that game, and we never trailed at any point in the game. I believe that that game showcased our skill, heart, and our camaraderie as a team. If the Guapos were going to take any game in this series that game 2 (game 3 of series) was there chance and they came up short. So yes a sweep is important. Also I am confident enough in my team to guarantee a sweep of the Guapos, this I have stated to you before.”

The Skillz challenge has added the 40 yard dash to go along with the home to first and home to home races.  Also, we are going to have two classes for the races, The Thoroughbreds and The Burros.

Just want to use this space to give mad props to Leland for all his hard work on the website. He spends hours a week on this site, and all the work shows. The website gets bigger and bigger everyday, and that is all thanks to Leland. Thanks Leland.

The next time I get out to a game to film I would like to get head shots of everyone so we can replace the old photos for the players page(if desired) and have a picture of all the players so we can hopefully get everyone on the webpage.

In light of the fact that RDWS is up 3-0, I thought I would revisit the 2 teams that had series sweeps, and the opponents they swept.

Those who weren’t there may be wondering, Torance and Cav on the same team? Well, Cav was injured and only played in 1 game for 6 Ab’s. Also Ed was usually the 1st or second person taken. Torance played 3 games and Josh played all four, but they only combined for 3 Hr’s total. “Captain” Eric V. only made it to 1 game in the series and isn’t even listed on the Career Stats page. It was a debacle to have him as a captain, and the Army certainly suffered for it.

On the other hand, the Bombers on the other hand were led by the play and leadership of their Capt. Soonam. Those who have not had the pleasure of seeing Ed play, he was on fire for the series knocking in 15 Rbi’s but had no Hr’s. Greg S. drove in 18 and hit 2 Hr’s. Brandon R. hit a whopping .750 with 7 Rbi’s and 3 Total Hr’s. Some guy named Greg L. contributed with a .688 Avg. 7 Rbi’s and 1 Hr in only 2 games.

In the end, it wasn’t a competitive series at all. Without their leader the Army was lost and played like it. They ended up being the first ever BAB team to be swept.

The teams are listed in order of their series batting avg. Cav had a rough series, providing only 3 Hr’s, he did come through with 14 Rbi’s though. His .500 batting avg left a lot to be desired. Minor had a great series in a losing effort. He hit an amazing .714 and Brandon was not far behind at an even .700.

For the Strokes Captain Josh led by example as he hit .625 and tied with Alvin for 2nd most Rbi’s in the series with 15. Torance had the most Rbi’s(19) and hit .750. But .750 wasn’t even enough for highest avg. in the series, that honor went to Greg S. who hit…wait for it…..808 going 21 for 26!

Of the teams that swept, I would say that Different Strokes was the strongest team. With current BAB players like Torance, Rick, Joel, Alvin and Dave, and some ex players like Josh and Greg L. the Strokes had no weaknesses and proved it by outscoring their opponents 96 to 82.

Now for everyone’s favorite part…The Mendoza Report!

-          Tito has continued to raise his avg. to a nice .520 clip. His .545 avg. this series is helping him distance himself from the Mendoza Line.
-          Soonam is close behind at .519 Last Mendoza report he was at .500 exactly. He is hitting a robust .645 in the series.
-          Bryan is at .517. If he continues his decent hitting in the series he could see that avg. continue to rise. He only has 60 AB’s so his avg. will skyrocket if he can continue to hit consistently.
-          Skillz is at .514 and dropping due to his struggles in the current series. He is currently hitting .476 in the series and needs to get things going or he could be in danger of hitting the dreadful Mendoza Line.
-          Al is at exactly .500. He is hitting less than that in the series and is in serious danger of falling below the line.
-          Dave D. is really struggling at the plate and although I am sure he is not one to make excuses, but that brace on his wrist has got to hamper his swing. Currently he is hitting .432. I personally hope he can get his wrist healed up and start swinging the stick again.

 Player Rankings

Player Comments Avg. HR's RBI's Up/Down Last Week
Cav Saw Avg drop and lead in HR's drop. Still the most dominating player in BAB but the lead isn't as firmly entrenched at #1 as he was last week. .631 23 89 N/A 1
Torance Huge weekend saw him produce 6 Hr's and 13 Rbi's. Not to mention 2 more wins in the series. .642 18 63 N/A 2
Brandon Big game 2 of the double header keeps him at 3. .684 6 32 N/A 3
Greg M. .666 Avg and 5 Runs scored along with stellar D bump him up one slot. .600 0 26 +1 5
Rob Hitting the ball hard, but not finding the holes. Great game 2 of double header. .585 2 34 -1 4
Tito 16th pick? I'll take him at 6. .520 5 30 +4 10
Soonam Avg keeps climbing. Having a darn good season so far. .519 0 20 N/A 7
Bryan Decent enough double header. Boosted the avg. Had some troubles in the field, but who on the Guapos didn't? .517 2 11 N/A 8
Leland Got his first BAB 0'fer. Still playing his heart out and got a few knocks in game 2.  .562 0 31 -3 6
