Irvington High School -- Fremont

LOCATED: Near intersection of Blacow/Grimmer in Fremont.

DIMENSIONS: n/a; BAB portable fence used.

DANGER FACTOR: 2/5. Lefty hitters risk hitting people using adjacent field; otherwise safe.

BOOT FACTOR: 2/5. School only uses it occasionally on Sundays, but not geographically convenient for most of the league.

LAST USED: March 19, 2006

Discovered by Greg Lynas, this field, while decent, is simply too northern to be a FT BAB yard. Used infrequently according to the school's baseball coach--who didn't care if BAB used it--it lies behind Irvington High down a long, gravelly path. Relatively safe from parked cars despite not having a backstop overhang, the only real danger comes from citizens who nest in the expansive grass in foul LF. The outfield was in pretty good shape considering the weather conditions the one time it was used by BAB. However, in RF, the adjacent baseball field has a fence down its LF line that cuts into RF on the softball field! BAB determined it to be in play, as it runs about where the BS would be stationed and never posed a real problem.

It may be used again in an emergency, but its' location (from a gas standpoint as well as the parking lot--difficult to transport fences) means it'll never be more than that.
