Greg Minor

Interview

Conducted by the BAD ASS Reporter, May 26, 2005

Did you play little league as a kid? If so, any memorable moments?

Yes, I played from age 5 up to age 16 in little league.  My most memorable moment was when I was 12.  I was on  the Homestead Little League All-Star team and we were at our second game.  I went to lay down a bunt and the pitcher threw at me and I fell down to avoid the ball.  Then my coach gave me another bunt sign, I was thinking, "Fuck, this guy is going to throw at me again!".  He did throw at me again, but this time I was able to lay down the bunt (more like protecting myself).  Nobody was ready for it, the cathcer made a throwing error to first, then they tried to throw out a runner at third.  By that time I was already on my way to second, but the throw was wide of the thrid baseman so it went sailing by, the run scored and I got to third.  My next at bat was a ground-rule double.

I know you play soccer as well as baseball. Which sport do you prefer to
play? Watch?

I'd have to say baseball on both counts.  Don't get me wrong, I love playing soccer, but I don't have the time to train hard enough to compete at the level I once did, so I choose not to.  As far as watching it goes, the skill level of American soccer pales in comparison to the rest of the world.

I was lucky enough to witness your performance at Bamboo 7 a while
ago…Anymore performances to look forward to?

Nothing planned as of right now.  I do, however go every thursday to sing karaoke.  I go onstage as Badass Greg.  You know, to represent the league.  Soonam, Danny, and Leland go as well.  Rob and Tito don't go as often as they used to, but they show up sometimes.

Being one of the original B.A.B. players, what would you say is the biggest
difference between now and then?

The number of regular players.  I remember 4 on 4 games.  I didn't like them, so I am glad we don't have that problem anymore.

What do you like most about your baseball skills? What do you like least?

I like the fact that I am a fast runner.  It helps leg out a groundball, score from second, and track down balls in the outfield.  I don't like my batting power.  I feel I have the strength to hit the ball a ton.  So it must be my swing technique.

You have a choice, the Giant's win the World Series or you win B.A.B. season
MVP? Which do you choose?

The Giants, by far.  Winning the MVP is great, but it's a solo accomplishment that only I would enjoy.  The Giants winning the World Series, is something we can all party about.

You are one of the few that see Cav away from the field. How is he in
everyday life away from B.A.B.?

He loves protein shakes, pearl necklaces, and reach arounds.  j/k  He is the same off the field as he is on the field.  Cocky and crude, but honest and loyal.  He is a good friend.

What’s your favorite moment in B.A.B. whether it is something that involved
you or just an overall memorable moment?

Dirty Sanchez for life!!!!

What is your favorite thing about B.A.B.?

The stats.  I love to have answer when a relative or friend asks, so what's your average, and I have an answer.  They usually are shocked we keep stats at all.

What is the worst thing?

Past: Small Penis Award.  Present: Pitchers who don't wait for me to get set.  I often run to back-up a play.  Not all the time, but when I do I'd like to be able to be set before the pitch is thrown.

What field is your favorite to play on?

Santa Clara High School

What position do you like to play the most?

Centerfield.

Which player is your favorite teammate?

I'd have to say Cav (I've been on his team all year, every series), but when Ed comes back I might have to change my answer.

You have the first 7 picks in the draft, who do you take?

Cav, Nick, Torance, Rob, Bush, Brandon, Joel
